Health Professions Application

This application is for the Fall cohort that will start classes in August 2026.

Prior to submitting an application for any of the Health Professions programs, all students must ensure that they have completed the following tasks:

Transcripts
All transcripts including high school (or GED) and colleges attended must be official (received directly from the institution to Parkland) and on file prior to submitting an application for a Health Professions program.

Assessments
Complete necessary assessment testing in English, reading, and math. Assessments can be taken through the Assessment Center during the hours they are open, no appointment is necessary. Please bring a valid photo ID. Alternatively, assessments can be waived with an approved academic history in high school and/or college. You can get more information on assessment test waivers at admissions@parkland.edu or by calling 217-351-2482.

Scoring
To be scored, an applicant must have completed at least 15 college credit hours with a letter grade of C or better OR they have graduated from high school within the last two years.

Additional points can be awarded to students who have provided letters from Veterinary Services organizations that detail work experience.

An applicant's score is determined by their grade point average (GPA) and will depend on what their academic history includes. Some students will be scored by courses in the program that they have completed, overall college GPA, or if no previous college credit and they've graduated high school within the last two years, their high school GPA. The score is then used comparatively to other applicants.

Non-developmental Math and Science courses expire after five years since completion for scoring purposes.

Completion of BIO 121 and BIO 122 is equivalent to the completion of BIO 111.

A selective admissions score of 2.50 or higher must be attained to be considered for admission.

OTA 111 (Intro to Occupational Therapy) is open to students who have not been admitted into the OTA program. Students interested must have passed one college-level course (100 or higher) and receive approval from the OTA program director.

BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I
Student must eligible to enroll into BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I prior to submitting their application. This course has a prerequisite of any Chemistry course with a C or better within the last three years in either college or high school.

A rubric will be used to score eligible applicants and will receive additional admission points for completion of BIO 121.

To be considered, an applicant must achieve a minimum selective admission score of 2.50.

To be scored, an applicant must have completed at least 15 college credit hours with a letter grade of C or better OR they have graduated from high school within the last two years.

BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I
Student must eligible to enroll into BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I prior to submitting their application. This course has a prerequisite of any Chemistry course with a C or better within the last three years in either college or high school.

SUR 150 (Personal and Professional Relations) is open to students who have not been admitted to the surgical technology program. Students must seek approval from the program director prior to enrollment.

To be considered, an applicant must achieve a minimum selective admission score of 2.40.

To be scored, an applicant must have completed at least 15 college credit hours with a letter grade of C or better OR they have graduated from high school within the last two years.

BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I
Student must eligible to enroll into BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I prior to submitting their application. This course has a prerequisite of any Chemistry course with a C or better within the last three years in either college or high school.

Completion of XRA 150 (Intro to Radiography) is strongly recommended prior to program admissions. This is an open enrollment course that may be taken prior to program acceptance.

Student must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the program (June).

Scoring
A scoring rubric will be applied for students who have successfully completed BIO 121, BIO 122, and PHY 112 with a B or higher, and will result in a higher score for students who have taken these courses in advance.

To be considered, an applicant must achieve a minimum selective admission score of 2.75.

To be scored, an applicant must have completed at least 15 college credit hours with a letter grade of C or better OR they have graduated from high school within the last two years.

LPN to ADN Bridge
Those applying for the LPN to ADN Bridge program must hold a current Practical Nurse (LPN) license to enter into upper level Nursing (ADN) courses. In addition. applicants must have completed and passed the following courses prior to application: ENG 101 - Composition 1, PSY 101 - Introduction to Psychology, and BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology 1.

A CNA or CMA certification or being currently enrolled in a CNA/CMA program is required for the LPN program, but only preferred for the Nursing programs.
