Health Professions Application - Spring 2026

This application is for the Spring cohort that will start classes in January 2026.
Prior to submitting an application for any of the Health Professions programs, all students must ensure that they have completed the following tasks:
Transcripts
All transcripts including high school (or GED) and colleges attended must be official (received directly from the institution to Parkland) and on file prior to submitting an application for a Health Professions program.
Assessments
Complete necessary assessment testing in English, reading, and math. Assessments can be taken through the Assessment Center during the hours they are open, no appointment is necessary. Please bring a valid photo ID. Alternatively, assessments can be waived with an approved academic history in high school and/or college. You can get more information on assessment test waivers at admissions@parkland.edu or by calling 217-351-2482.

Meet with an Academic Success Advisor for Health Professions through the Academic Advising office. Call 217-353-2219 to schedule an appointment.

Assessments
Prior to applying, applicants must meet the following placements:
English - Place into English 101 (Out of ENG 099)
Reading - College-level Reading (Out of CCS 099)
Math - Math Literacy (Out of MAT 072)
Non-native speakers of English must establish English proficiency prior to applying through:
TOEFL iBT Scores
Minimum in reading, listening, speaking, and writing: 20-22-26-20, respectively
IELTS Scores
Minimum in reading, listening, speaking, and writing: 6.5-6.5-8-5.5, respectively
BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I
Student must eligible to enroll into BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I prior to submitting their application. This course has a prerequisite of any Chemistry course with a C or better within the last three years in either college or high school.
Scoring
To be considered, an applicant must achieve a minimum score of 2.75 or above with the exception of Practical Nursing where a minimum score is 2.5 or above.
To be scored, an applicant must have completed at least 15 college credit hours with a letter grade of C or better OR they have graduated from high school within the last two years.
An applicant's score is determined by their grade point average (GPA) and will depend on what their academic history includes. Some students will be scored by courses in the program that they have completed, overall college GPA, or if no previous college credit and they've graduated high school within the last two years, their high school GPA. The score is then used comparatively to other applicants.
Non-developmental Math and Science courses expire after five years since completion for scoring purposes.
LPN to ADN Bridge
Those applying for the LPN to ADN Bridge program must hold a current Practical Nurse (LPN) license to enter into upper level Nursing (ADN) courses. In addition. applicants must have completed and passed the following courses prior to application: ENG 101 - Composition 1, PSY 101 - Introduction to Psychology, and BIO 121 - Anatomy and Physiology 1.
A CNA or CMA certification or being currently enrolled in a CNA/CMA program is required for the LPN program, but only preferred for the Nursing programs.
